A great little tale of Vincenzo Peruggia an Italian craftsman who stole the Mona Lisa in 1911 and kept it for 2 years. At first the film conjures up in my head a true art lover of a lonely man who fell in love with the Mona Lisa at first sight and who would sing and have candle light dinners with the painting every night. But as odd at that seems the true story isn’t that far off. Its quirky and a great tale. It a great history note of the painting. Its also the story of the director and his wanting to know more of this tale. So the storyteller insert himself in the story, which I wasn’t all to much of a fan of. But in doing so, he redeems the Peruggia family and Vincenzo gets to leave his mark in this world.
