Ushio and Noriko Shinohara a Japanese couple that moved to New York to pursue their art careers and live their lives. This shows the struggling personal working relationship of this couple from their next payday to a clutter studio apartment to the very serious issues that they seem to ignore but can make them explode at any moment. Ushio Shinoshara work is some what well know in the art world but I feel its never really hit when he was hot and now feels like himself getting old. Norkio work is traditional but really really personal and is always in the shadow of her husband work. Ushio is more concern on the process of how to make his artwork than really developiong his own technique and style. You see he starts off with him in Japan creating his imitation of Pop Art that is fresh and new there but when he gets to New York find that he way behind the curve with the oringinators of American Pop Art at the lead. He then takes a page from Jackson Pollack and punches paint into canvas in Action Painting.  He is all over the place and never is cohesive or developes his own style and that shows up in his smaller statues that are messy and colorfull and resemble Rat Fink. Noriko drawing are very personal and tells the story of two characters of Cutie and Bullie and their sometimes STORMY and sometimes heartbreaking relationship. What i like the most of this film was it shows you there day to day interactions and then flashbacks to the past as them as themselves.
